Mairs & Power is seeking a Client Advisor with experience providing customized advice and planning services to high-net-worth clients. The candidate will partner with Investment Managers and Client Service Associates to provide an exceptional client experience involving investment management, financial and estate planning and over all client service to separately managed account clients. 

 

Job Title: Client Advisor

Reports To: President

Department: Client Service

FLSA Status: Full-Time / Non-Exempt

Location: St. Paul, Minn., with a hybrid work model (remote flexibility, with some in-office work required)

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Client relationship management 

    • Acts as primary point of contact to facilitate regular and ongoing client communication
    • Participates in client discovery process with clients to develop and monitor the Investment Policy Statement
    • Provides customized advice and planning services to high-net-worth clients
    • Exhibits commitment to maintain fiduciary standards for all client relationships
    • Partners with Investment Managers and Client Service Associates to execute and communicate the agreed upon investment strategy for client accounts
    • Responsible for communicating all client account related activities and working with internal partners to ensure completion

Financial planning and wealth management 

    • Designs recommendation and outlines the planning framework for presentation to the client
    • Ensures recommendations and analysis provided are accurate and appropriate for client goals
    • Partners with client’s fiduciaries, attorneys, CPAs, etc. regarding client estate and income tax planning activities
    • Identifies and implements planning in response to shifting market trends

Business Development 

    • Develops and maintains internal and external networks and referral sources to ensure ongoing growth of business

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in wealth management/and or financial advisory services with demonstrated ability to develop and manage plans and maintain client relationships
  • Experience working with employee benefit plans and other institutional clients desired
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation (preferred)
  • Experience with financial planning process and software (preferred) 
  • Financial planning/wealth management acumen, judgement, and experience
  • Possesses outstanding organization skills and the ability to manage and balance multiple priorities
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including written and verbal
  • Demonstrates initiative, problem solving ability, adaptability, and flexibility
  • Proficient with MS Office products
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings
